Class Instructors
Melissa Hayne Loretto
Melissa is so excited to join the Second Spring team! A lifelong athlete, she set four top-ten high school track records and played varsity tennis. Additionally, she won her high school’s award for “Most Outstanding Physical Education” student, an award offered not just to someone who was athletic, but also someone who was enthusiastic about physical education and movement.
She continued her athletic pursuits by playing club sports at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After graduating with her degree in History and Secondary Education, Melissa realized she should have become a gym teacher or majored in kinesiology, and she began exploring a career as a personal trainer.
Unfortunately, this was before universal healthcare (and, equally importantly, would have required her 23 year-old self to wake up before 6AM), so Melissa took her love of education into the collegiate realm. Ultimately, her passion for movement led her back to fitness, where she began teaching group fitness in 2023. Melissa has earned group fitness certifications in HIIT, strength, and SAQ (speed, agility, and quickness). In 2025 she became a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (CPT-NASM). Melissa is passionate about helping her clients build functional strength, improve mobility (not just flexibility!), and gain confidence inside and outside the gym. She brings high energy and a dose of humor to every session, and she can’t wait to help Second Spring members move better, feel stronger, and discover what they’re truly capable of!
Tuli Bera
Tuli Bera is a movement artist, dance educator, and choreographer based in Chicago whose relationship with strength training began the moment they joined their high school track and field team. As a dancer, Tuli's strength training has largely lived in the studio, and they are thrilled to be stepping back into the weight room, bringing everything they've learned about bodies and movement with them. Tuli believes that you are the greatest expert on your own body. Their goal as an instructor isn't to have all the answers, but to be the outside perspective that helps you see more deeply, building enough body awareness that self-correction becomes second nature. This approach is rooted in years of teaching dance across all ages and levels. Whether in a ballet class or a strength session, Tuli leads with curiosity, observation, and a genuine interest in meeting people exactly where they are. They believe access to strength and physical wellbeing should never be gate-kept, and they are excited to work with anyone ready to learn more about themselves and what their body can do.
